McKenna and Annette Williams at Portugal National Velodrome, Sangalhos

On the Road (In the Air) Again with McKenna!

Racing is not yet stopping for McKenna this year! After competing in October at the 2025 UCI Track World Championships in Santiago, Chile, M’s last UCI track event this year will be at the UCI CL1 Track Cycling Challenge in Grenchen, Switzerland, Dec 12-13, at the Tissot Velodrome.

But first, M recently traveled to the Anadia National Velodrome in Sagalhos, Portugal, to get some track time there, with her good friend and mentor, Annette Williams (in photo). Annette has her own storied past, as a multiple UCI Masters world champion, and several USA Cycling Elite/Masters national championships as well. What a duo! After this last tune-up, it’s off to Grenchen, in the canton of Solothurn, an area well-known for watchmaking history and heritage.

UPDATE: McKenna and six of her fellow teammates will be representing the USA Cycling Track Team at the Tissot Velodrome in Grenchen:

  • Women Sprint Program — McKenna, Kayla Hankins, Emily Hayes
  • Women Endurance Program — Stephanie Lawrence, Olivia Cummins, Kim Zubris
  • Men Sprint Program — Geneway Tang

Go Team USA!

And while she’s there, another good friend and mentor, Larssyn Staley (who lives in Switzerland), will be supporting McKenna and cheering her on! Larssyn’s story had a similar path as McKenna’s. Both started as junior racers at Alpenrose Velodrome, raced in the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association, USA Cycling, and went on to compete internationally. You can learn more about the connections between Larsynn and McKenna, by watching this M*PROVE*IT  podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=driuLvvmgN4
