About eight years ago from today, a young junior-level cyclist talked about her future dreams and goals for the sport she deeply loves. Diagnosed at the age of six, with type 1 diabetes, it didn’t take McKenna very long to begin dreaming about a future career in competitive cycling. She began developing her plan and goals. Keep training hard with her long-time coach Kirk Whiteman.

- ✅ compete internationally
- ✅ compete at the Pan Am Track Cycling Championships and win a gold medal
- 🇺🇸 make the LA 2028 Olympic Team – in progress…
McKenna’s Results at Asunción:
- 3 events, 8 total appearances on the track
- Team Sprint – Gold
- Kilo TT – 5th
- Match Sprints – 7th
The Road Ahead
M's final results in this year’s Pan Am races shows there’s still more work to be done. But her dream of gold in the Pan Ams came true in her first year officially repping Team USA. With three more Pan Ams before LA2028, there will be plenty of opportunities for M to train, improve, and compete on the road to Los Angeles. Near-term, plans are potentially in the works for training/racing in Europe, UCI racing events in July at The LA Velo Center, and the USA Track Cycling Championships, August 21-24, in Colorado Springs, CO. Stay tuned. There’s more to come. And thank you for your support!
