Twelve years ago, McKenna McKee began racing OBRA cyclocross, and quickly discovered her confidence, gained lots of skills, and lots of grit. Now at 21 yrs old, she is a 13x national champ (U23 + Elite Women), and is a world-class elite track racer, living with type 1 diabetes. Alpenrose was her first teacher, and she continues to learn, grow, and excel in the sport she loves!
On Saturday April 5, McKenna McKee, 2025 USA Pan Am gold medalist in the Team Sprint, will race her first official Kilo TT in Asuncion, Paraguay.
Track racing schedules don't always stay on track 😉 Sometimes race schedules can be a bit ahead, a bit behind, so plan to tune in around 1pm Pacific to make sure you get to see M and her teammate, Hayley Yoslov race the Kilo internationally for the first time.
Some info re: UCI change from 500m to 1000m and improving women's parity in the sport:
"The 1000m time trial (also known as "the kilo") for elite women will be introduced to the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 2025.
- Distance Parity:This change is part of a broader initiative to create distance parity between men and women in track cycling, meaning both genders will compete over the same distances in time trials and individual pursuit.
- Other Changes: An increase to the elite women's individual pursuit (IP) will also come into effect, creating distance parity for men and women for the TT and IP. "
