It was a tour de force of intelligence, intuition, and grit from USA national team member McKenna McKee (Tesseract Racing) during the month of July, at the UCI C2 Summer Slam six-event series that took place at the LA Velo Sports Center, in Carson, CA. In the final keirin event in the series, M put on a clinic on how to win from behind the motorcycle — from the front, the middle, and the back of the pack.
M sums up the month-long series in LA
“Feeling incredibly honored to become the first American sprinter to win an event in the Summer Slam Series 2025. The first week started strong with a silver medal, and while some tactical errors cost me the semi-final in Week 2, I walked away with valuable lessons. I regrouped, reset, and came into this week ready to re-apply what I learned. Grateful to carry the momentum from T-Town (PA) to LA. It’s been a blast hanging out with all my international friends and competitors. The work continues! Up next: National team camp in Colorado Springs.”
McKenna was the only American sprinter (men or women) to win a keirin during the series.
Stayed tuned for an exciting USA Cycling Elite National Championships, Aug 22-26, in Colorado Springs, CO. Your support and contributions are very much appreciated. Go-M-Go!
